Frequently asked questions

  • Psychotherapy aims to help clients gain insight into their difficulties or distress, support them in establishing a greater understanding of their motivation, and enable them to find more appropriate ways of coping or bring about changes in their thinking and behaviour.


  • Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and relevant events, sometimes from childhood and personal history, in a structured way with someone trained to help you do it safely. The session is patient led (i.e. I may not start the conversation but will instead encourage you to bring things into the session).

What is counselling?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment.

What is the difference between a psychotherapist and a counsellor?

Psychotherapists are similar to counsellors, but they've usually received more extensive training; they're also often qualified applied psychologists, Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Psychiatrists.

What can I expect from my psychotherapist?

Our work together is confidential. The sessions last for 50 minutes and are held weekly

Will I be in therapy forever?

No, I offer short term and open-ended therapy.

Do you offer home visit in your counselling/Psychotherapy service?

Yes, but this is charged at a different rate of £250 per session.

Do you offer Remote sessions?

Yes I offer telephone, Zoom and Skype session, please contact me to discuss.

What issues can psychotherapy help with?

People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that psychoptherapy may help with:

How much do I pay and how?

Counselling/Psychotherapy:

  • Couples £250 per session
  • Individual £150 per session
  • Adolescent £80 per session
  • Assessment and court report £350 per hour
  • Coaching offered as a package of 10 £ 4000

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): £150 per session

Home visit: £250 per session.

I also offer sliding-scale psychotherapy sessions for those on low income at the rate of £65 per session. However, please note that spaces are limited and are reviewed every 6 months.


Sessions can be paid for using cash, Paypal, credit or debit card, Bank Transfers

Do you accept health insurance?

Yes, I am recognised by several insurance company, please feel free to contact me to discuss. However, please note that as each insurance company has their own fee schedule, this may differ from the fees shown above, in this instance it will be your responsibility to settle any shortfalls incurred.

My usual policy is that 48 hours notice is required, otherwise you will be charged for the missed session.

If you wish to discuss a different arrangement, please bring it up during the assessment session.

Assessment sessions are charged at the same rate as ordinary sessions.

Please note that I review my fees annually in October.
